Core Fighter
Mobile Suit Gundam
Driven into a corner by the invading mobile suits of the Principality of Zeon, the Federation Forces developed this special fighter as part of the MS development plan known as Operation V, which was intended to turn the tide of the war. It can turn into a Core Block that serves as the piloting core of an RX series prototype mobile suit. As well as being extremely maneuverable, it is also capable of vertical take-off and landing, and can operate both inside and outside the atmosphere. It was created as an escape pod for data recovery and pilot survival, and though it could also be used as a fighter, it initially lacked the firepower to handle anti-MS combat. A Core Booster was later developed to increase its performance.
