Mobile Suit Gundam: The 08th MS Team
A ground combat mobile suit produced using surplus Gundam parts as the Federation Forces were rushing to deploy MS in battle. This was one of the first prototypes to emerge from the early stages of the MS mass production plan. Because experimental mass production of this model took place before operational data on the Gundam had been collected, space combat equipment was omitted from its design, limiting the environments in which it was able to operate. Even so, under gravity, this high-performance machine was said to have specs rivaling those of the Gundam. The fact that it was made with surplus Gundam parts led to inconsistent performance, and while a limiter was installed to reduce these discrepancies, the result was performance less than that of the Gundam. Thus it also had a "MAX Mode" system, which could disengage the limiter to maximize the machine's performance. This machine was deployed on the front lines in Southeast Asia as part of the Kojima Battalion's 08th MS Team, and so the digits "08" are printed on its shield.
