Because much of the armor and internal parts of the Federation Forces' Gundam Ground Type were recycled or reproduced from surplus Gundam parts, it lacked a stock of replacement parts, and so bases often had to make field repairs using parts from other machines and equipment. For example, when Karen Joshua's machine lost its head in battle with an Acguy, head parts from a GM Ground Type were used to repair it.
