Guncannon Mass Production Type
Mobile Suit Gundam 0080: War in the Pocket
The Federation Forces developed the medium-range support mobile suit Guncannon based on the development plan known as Operation V, which was intended to turn the tide of the war. This mass-produced type omits the Core Block system, uses components from the standard GM series, and changes the armor materials to titanium ceramic composite. This greatly reduces costs, while retaining the powerful bombardment capabilities and sturdy armor of the base machine. Though it has no melee weapons, this machine performs very well as a support MS. By the end of the war, direct combat between MS had become the norm, and so support machines like this one were gradually being phased out. Although it was a mass production type, only a few were ever produced.
