A variation of the Zaku II developed by the Principality of Zeon during the One Year War. This version is an improvement on the MS-06R-1, which was hampered by a limited operating time. The R type was praised by many ace pilots for its high performance. However, its complex operational requirements and high cost prevented mass production, with the result that these machines were rarer than F types. This particular unit belongs to Anavel Gato, the "Nightmare of Solomon," and its body is painted in his personal colors.
